Fatal Fury Reveals Stunning Prize Pool

The competitive fighting game community is abuzz with excitement as Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, the franchise’s first new installment in over 25 years, has set a whopping $2.5 million prize pool for the SNK World Championship 2025. This follows the game’s relatively disappointing original launch, its early figures not quite living up to its popular reception.

Released on April 24, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves has been praised for its combat, soundtrack, characters, and customization. However, the game’s player base concurrently playing on Steam still hasn’t surpassed 5,000, a surprising number given the aggressive marketing campaign that saw the game highlighted during WrestleMania and globally in commercials.

In spite of its slow beginning, the game’s fans now have a real reason to get into it and compete. The SNK World Championship 2025 will pay its eventual winner $1.5 million, beating the 2024 Capcom Cup’s $2 million prize pool for Street Fighter 6. Its rich pool of money may yet encourage others to give Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves a try, possibly even enticing more players into its community and scene.

The roster of the game includes Fatal Fury regular characters and guest fighters who are not SNK-developed, like soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo and DJ Salvatore Ganacci. DLC roster additions include Street Fighter warriors Chun-Li and Ken Masters and Art of Fighting series’ Mr. Big.

Recent releases of Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves have also fixed a number of bugs and issues, with more updates on the horizon from developers. Additional information on qualifier schedules and prizes for the SNK World Championship 2025 will be released in the near future, with the finals to take place later in 2025. With a substantial prize pool and the promise of intense competition, the SNK World Championship 2025 is poised to reignite the fighting spirit of Fatal Fury fans worldwide.
