Enter the Gungeon 2 has been shadow dropped on Steam for PC players to take a look at. Unfortunately not many people are happy with it. The graphical style of this new sequel is hard to look at, we get that 3D is super easy to make and cuts a lot of costs, but they should have done it better. Maybe it is the trailer causing some bad first impressions, we still don’t know how the game will play out, but many assume it will be what the trailers showed. Big graphical changes sometimes make people feel disappointed, especially when they fundamentally change how gameplay flows. We at Infinite Start will cover this controversial sequel.
People should give time to team Dodge Roll, perhaps they are cooking something very interesting and we are unable to appreciate it. As long as the change to 3D does not affect gameplay by causing it to go wrong, then it can still be a solid game to play. While the charm of the 2D art style is undeniable, having to do animations on it becomes expensive real fast.
Cost cutting is the name of the game in our current entertainment industry, and seems that indie developers also have to go for it. The spinoff title for Enter the Gungeon was unfortunately quite poor, so many assume that Enter the Gungeon 2 will also fail if they don’t do things right. Nobody wants team Dodge Roll to fail, many fans adore the work they put in the first game.
It would be sad to see a departure of a great team due to a series of mismanaged projects, so we only hope for the best. If you are a big fan of their work, you can wishlist this newly announced sequel, there’s a chance that Enter the Gungeon 2 ends up being even better than the first.
