Dragon’s Dogma 2 Sees Major Price Drop

Dragon’s Dogma 2, the highly touted follow-up to Capcom’s 2012 role-playing game, has taken a major price drop on Amazon, and for the time being, can be purchased for as little as $28. This marks a major drop from its launch price of $70 and is a welcome chance for gamers looking for a reduced up-front cost.

Last year’s drop of Dragon’s Dogma 2 rendered it one of the biggest RPGs in 2024, holding top ranks on Metacritic with scores within the high 80s and Best RPG nominated at The Game Awards. Last year, as of this date, the game had sold around three million copies.

As Capcom diverted its attention to other newer titles like Monster Hunter Wilds and the soon-to-be-remastered Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny, the price reduction indicates higher demand for Dragon’s Dogma 2. The offer is exclusive to the physical copy of the game on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Even though Capcom did stop major support for the game, with minor updates being done, there have been rumors that in the future there will be a release of DLC based on Capcom’s own history of adding DLC to their flagship titles, such as the original Dragon’s Dogma. Buying the game now at this lower price could be a long-term gain and potentially let buyers buy the entire game and possibly any future released DLC for under the original purchase price.

Capcom’s future is rosy, with a sequel to Okami and a new Onimusha title, Way of the Sword, under way. There are also plenty of individuals looking forward to the next Resident Evil main series title, with some speculating that there will be an announcement before the end of the year. Capcom fans should look to the publisher’s social media accounts for news on these titles, along with any rumblings on Dragon’s Dogma 2 DLC.
