Cyberpunk 2077 sequel Gears Up for Multiplayer

After the disorderly but finally triumphant trip of Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt RED is advancing with its sequel, currently with a name in “Project Orion” code. While concrete details remain scarce, a recent increase in employment lists strongly suggests that the next installment in the gritty Universe of Night City will incorporate multiplayer elements.

From active development it began around 2024, CD Projekt Red has strategically expanded its team. In particular, numerous recent work publications have specifically sought developers with experience in the design and implementation of multiplayer games. One of these lists explicitly mentions the responsibility of building and maintaining viable game systems for experiences for single player and multiplayer. This, together with previous lists looking for a main network programmer to head online functionalities and a senior combat designer with experience in multiplayer mode, paints a clear image of the intentions of the study.

This movement towards multiplayer integration marks a significant change for the Cyberpunk franchise, the original 2077 title is an experience strictly for a single player, except for a modification community that was responsible for unofficially introducing the multiplayer mode. While the exact nature of the multiplayer component in “Project Orion” remains in Wraps, work descriptions hint a robust system deeply integrated into the nucleus of the game.

Reassuring for fans of solo narratives, the same work listings also affirm that the “Orion Project” will retain a strong approach to a player. This suggests that the CD Projakt Red aims to offer an integral experience that attends to those who prefer to navigate the dangers of Night City and those who wish to join with friends.

“Project Orion” is still in the preproduction phase, with its probable release to years away, potentially aimed at next -generation and PC consoles. However, the clear indication of multiplayer development indicates a new ambitious direction for the Cyberpunk saga, promising a potentially richer and more dynamic experience for players when it finally arrives. The lessons learned from the rock launch of Cyberpunk 2077 will undoubtedly inform the development of “Project” Orion, and the inclusion of multiplayer mode could be a key element to establish its long -term success.
