No Man’s Sky Relics Update Overhauls Abandoned Mode, Responds to Fan Demands

Hello Games has again brought their constantly evolving space exploration journey, No Man’s Sky, a major update. The “Relics” update, as outlined on Game Rant, brings a major amount of new content, most notably redefining the game’s “Abandoned Mode.” This adjustment, which seems directly in response to player complaints, opens purple star systems to limitless play, rendering the story advancement roadblock that once existed on this special game mode irrelevant.

For the new player, Abandoned Mode offers a whole different experience in the No Man’s Sky universe. These systems, which are defined by their hauntingly beautiful landscapes and desolate environment, were once gated behind significant story progression, restricting access to them. The Relics update opens up these systems, and players can learn their secrets from the beginning.

Other than this momentous change, the patch comes with the addition of the Relics Expedition, a temporary event with unique rewards. The Relics Expedition features new archaeological material to be excavated by the players as they dig up treasure like living stone armor and skeletal beast companion egg. The archaology theme brings new complexity to the game because players have an incentive to discover and reassemble the history of these fallen worlds.

The impact of this patch is significant. By making Abandoned Mode accessible on a limitless basis, Hello Games has essentially opened up a completely new, alternate way of playing No Man’s Sky. This gives players the option of bypassing the conventional storyline advancement and simply dive into the creepy haunting and disparate challenges that these abandoned systems have to offer. This move not only adds to the current gameplay but also demonstrates Hello Games’ continued dedication to hearing from their community and iterating on their game based on player feedback.

While everyone else in the industry is content with keeping things the way they are, Hello Games is continually pushing at what is possible, so No Man’s Sky remains a vibrant and exciting experience for its passionate fan base. The Relics update is testament to the fact that they’re never content to leave well alone, adding new content and radically rewriting gameplay that will no doubt rejuvenate No Man’s Sky’s exploration of the vast galaxy.
