Wingdrake Hide is a crucial crafting material in Monster Hunter Wilds, used for forging armor, Talismans, and upgrading Kinsects. This item plays a significant role for players who prefer the Insect Glaive weapon, as certain Kinsect upgrades rely on it. However, acquiring Wingdrake Hide can be tricky for newcomers due to its exclusive drop sources. This guide explains exactly where to find Wingdrake Hide and how to efficiently farm it in Monster Hunter Wilds.
Wingdrake Hide is a Low Rank equipment material used to craft armor pieces, Talismans, and select weapon upgrades. It’s only obtainable from small flying monsters found across various regions in Monster Hunter Wilds. Players who reach High Rank will no longer receive Wingdrake Hide from these monsters — instead, they’ll get Wingdrake Hide+, a higher-tier version.
If you’re in High Rank but still need Wingdrake Hide, you must post a Low Rank Optional Quest through Alma, the game’s Quest Counter. Ensure the quest takes place in regions where Wingdrakes spawn to maximize your farming efficiency.
There are two monsters that yield Wingdrake Hide: Baunos and Harpios. Both are small flying wyverns scattered across different regions, but they require slightly different methods to hunt down.
Baunos are small flying monsters commonly found in the Windward Plains region. They usually appear in:
To locate Baunos faster, use the Filter Icons feature on your map. Open the map, navigate to the Small Monsters tab, and select Baunos to place a waypoint directly on their location. Once marked, summon your Seikret mount and let it auto-travel to the target area.
When you spot a Baunos in the air, equip your Slinger and aim at the creature. If you’re within range, an on-screen prompt will appear, allowing you to shoot the Baunos down. After it falls, finish it off with your weapon and carve its body to obtain Wingdrake Hide.
Harpios are another source of Wingdrake Hide, found in both the Scarlet Forest and Oilwell Basin regions. They’re more common on the ground, making them easier to hunt than Baunos. Here’s where to find them:
Like with Baunos, use the Filter Icons feature to mark Harpios on your map for quick navigation. Once you reach their spawn points, simply engage them in combat and carve their carcasses after defeating them.
Repeat this process until you’ve gathered enough materials for your desired crafting recipes.
Wingdrake Hide is an essential crafting material in Monster Hunter Wilds, particularly for players upgrading Kinsects or crafting armor. By targeting Baunos in the Windward Plains and Harpios in the Scarlet Forest and Oilwell Basin, players can efficiently farm this material during Low Rank quests. With the Filter Icons and Seikret mount features, tracking down these monsters becomes much easier. Make sure to stock up on Wingdrake Hide before progressing into High Rank, as it won’t be obtainable later without switching back to Low Rank missions.
