A fresh teaser trailer for Helldivers 2 has sent the community into overdrive after a secret Morse code message was found within it. The clip, shared on the game’s Twitter account, looks like any other in-game notice regarding the evacuation of Moradesh, one of the worlds of the game. But observant players didn’t take long to spot coded hints, as there was a deluge of theories about what they might mean.
After a closer look, players cracked a spectrogram in the video that had Morse code. The message is: “Last Straw.” Although its true meaning is unknown, most speculate it might be a coded message from the Illuminate, an enigmatic group of people who were just introduced in Helldivers 2.
Other gamers speculate the message may be evidence of a new planet, perhaps the homeworld of the Illuminates, or a teaser for some other large-scale event in the game’s developing narrative. Considering the game’s past tradition of in-game storyelling through behind-the-scenes info and developer hints, this find has created buzz on what comes next.
The Illuminate faction was added to Helldivers 2 with the Omens of Tyranny update in late 2024. If this new teaser is about them, it could mean that there will be a future big expansion with new enemies, missions, or planets.
Additionally, Helldivers 2 is still regularly updated, and the latest drops have added new weapons, armor sets, and the Servants of Freedom Warbond, which is an in-game reward system that resembles a battle pass. As content drops regularly, the fans are all excited to learn what is in store next.
Apart from game updates, Helldivers 2 is going beyond video games. A Helldivers 2 board game will be available in April 2025, making it even more popular.
With rumors reaching a record high, players eagerly wait for the next update, hoping to find out about the “Last Straw” message and how it relates to the Illuminate.
