The God of War franchise has just turned 20 and to celebrate the iconic series in a way that resembles it’s roots, Sony and Santa Monica Studio have revealed the Dark Odyssey collection which is an upcoming free update for God of War Ragnarok that’ll feature multiple in-game equipments themed after one of the series’ most rewarding unlockable outfits.
Sony has announced all of the in-game items from the Dark Odyssey bundle in an official blog post which includes a Shadowy Black and Gold Costume complete with both appearance and armor sets for Kratos and looks identical to a skin that was only awarded to players who managed to beat God of War 2 on the game’s God Mode difficulty.
Also, both Atreus and Freya will receive their own cosmetic sets along with shields and weapon skins as part of the Dark Odyssey collection, giving a significant visual makeover to Kratos and his companions. While the items are strictly cosmetic in nature and won’t provide any sort of stat boost or other upgrades, but it’s still a rewarding experience to play the game through costumes that brings back earlier memories of the series, especially to players who’ve played through the original trilogy. And if you’re one of them, the Dark Odyssey collection will surely take you back in more ways than one.
The collection is set to arrive for both the PS5 and PC versions of God of War Ragnarok on March 20. Besides the cosmetics, the Dark Odyssey bundle will also allow players to customize the appearance of Kratos’ weapons without sacrificing any of their respective abilities.
