Epic Games to be sued due to their FOMO Fortnite Tactics

FOMO Fortnite tactics have been a thing since the inception of the game. The microtransaction shop is perhaps one, if not, the most important feature of Fortnite. Many times in the past, the company Epic Games have committed crimes against their costumer base. Software as a Service is extremely dangerous for our gaming hobby, however, they are still churning more of that slop. The Netherlands was one of the first countries to actually take action against Epic Games. However, these companies often avoid the law using dirty tricks up their sleeve. We at Infinite Start will cover this new case of Fortnite FOMO.

FOMO Fortnite moment

The plaintiff presented a case against Epic Games, citing that the in game timer for the shop is actually deceptive. It has been a thing for years now, but Epic Games always found a way to change, modify, or even break the law multiple times. Monopolies in development such as Epic Games are a great danger to our community of gamers, always destroying what we care about in the hobby. This is not the only thing that the company has done before, and they are known for being shady.

FOMO is a very common tactic employed by many Live Service slop to obtain all the money from people. It is known as fear of missing out, and its plaguing the industry as we speak. If people keep falling for these traps, the company behind will have no reason to stop doing them. Age restrictions shall be given to games with micro transactions, as they often target the most vulnerable, mainly kids.

Europe has managed in some cases to snatch a victory against predatory Live Service slop, by imposing age restriction laws. However, they haven’t done enough to end this hobby killer, and they should enforce even more harsh regulations against them.
