Annihilator is a new retro game that you can play now

Annihilator is a new dystopic game that has recently released on Itch. The surprising part is that this one is actually exclusive to the Game Boy Color, one of the best handheld systems of all time. In this dystopia you play as Shinryu, an escapee who managed to live through constant corporate abuse. The city they all live in is powered by the suffering and pain of millions, and they are forced to relieve their most horrid moments in a loop of life and death. This suffering provides energy that the ruthless CEO of the company uses to make tons of money. We at Infinite Start will discuss this new cautionary tale about capitalism.

Annihilator is out

Eden Try is the city where our protagonist lives and dies. Thankfully, due to an error in procedures, he is able to escape from enslavement. Unfortunately for the others, people are still being used as human batteries to quench the thirst for money that the CEO has. Locked in a perpetual loop of death and revival, they relive their final moments endlessly. Fear, hate, hope, all of this is harvested through torture to power the city.

You, Shinryu, are the one who can save all of them, to destroy the system and break free. To do so, you must fight your way through many areas. All of them are guarded by powerful bosses that await for you, ready to give you a challenge. The game has 3 difficulty modes, Easy would be appropriate for those who haven’t touched a retro game in their lives, as it accommodates to modern sensibilities. Normal as the name implies is the regular experience the game provides, and then Hard might be more hellish than Eden Try itself.

The game is currently at $10, with no signs of a discount happening soon, so if you like the demo, try to give the developer behind this gem a boost by buying it.
