World of Warcraft Teases Significant Updates, Including Player Housing and Social Features

World of Warcraft is shaping up to have a huge year, and Blizzard just gave fans an early look at what’s in store. In a new State of the Game update, Executive Producer Holly Longdale teased several upcoming features, including the long-awaited Player Housing news, enhanced social tools, and additional ways to facilitate roleplaying.

Player Housing Update Coming Soon

The most exciting news? Player Housing for current WoW is finally on the way. Though the State of the Game post did not go into detail, Blizzard assured that more information would be shared later in the day. Quite possibly the most requested feature for years now, and with the game’s ambitious 2025 roadmap—two major content patches and Mists of Pandaria arriving on Classic—fans are curious to know how Player Housing will fit into the mix.

New Player and Social Tools

Blizzard also wishes to enhance the experience of new players in World of Warcraft. The path that started with Exile’s Reach in Shadowlands will be further developed by The War Within, Midnight, and beyond. Longdale suggested tools aimed at making it easier for players to engage with each other, such as an Overwatch 2 Endorsements-like system, which incentivizes positive behavior.

Roleplayers, especially, might have reason to rejoice, as Blizzard is developing new features aimed at strengthening immersion and roleplay interaction. They are even said to be looking into cross-integration with social sites external to the game. Season of Discovery Isn’t Over Yet

In a surprise move, Blizzard revealed that Season of Discovery in World of Warcraft Classic will not be concluding with Phase 7 as initially intended. Although information is still limited, this indicates Blizzard is pleased with high engagement on the mode and might have additional surprises in store for Classic players.
