Valheim fans eager for fresh content have something to look forward to as developer Iron Gate AB teases the long-awaited Deep North update through a new trailer series. The first installment introduces Hervor Bloodtooth, an original character embarking on a journey through the game’s frozen northern biome. While the update’s release date remains uncertain, the ongoing teaser campaign signals that development is in full swing.

A Long-Awaited Expansion to the Deep North

Though the Deep North has existed in Valheim since its early days, the biome has largely remained barren and underdeveloped. With this upcoming update, Iron Gate AB is aiming to bring it to life with new enemies, dungeons, and weapons. Players can also expect snow-covered trees and breathtaking northern lights, adding to the immersive Viking survival experience.

While the developers have not provided a concrete release date, some sources suggest the update may not arrive until late 2025 at the earliest. To keep fans engaged in the meantime, the studio has launched The Voyage of Hervor Bloodtooth, a narrative-driven trailer series that follows the titular character as she explores the frozen wasteland, seeing it as her final test before reaching Valhalla.

Building on Past Success

Iron Gate AB has a track record of delivering exciting updates. The game’s last major expansion, The Ashlands Update, arrived in May 2024 and focused on the southernmost region of Valheim. It introduced over 30 new weapons, three armor sets, new crafting materials, buildable objects, and unique events, alongside a custom soundtrack for the volcanic biome.
