Older Star Rail characters may be buffed as some comments on the issue of power creep in the game are being considered. There is no precise schedule for changes to come, but those developments are looking good for players who want their older additions to still be effective against the latest new units. Since its launch in 2023, Honkai: Star Rail’s launch has been a massive hit, with over 20 million downloads in a single day.
The game also continues to grow in size, as the newest large update, Version 3.0 (which is optional), adds new content and new 5-star characters such as The Herta and Aglaea. However, as with many gacha games, newer characters often outshine older ones, leaving longtime players frustrated when their favorite units fall behind.
In a recent blog article on HoYoLAB, HoYoverse admitted that some of the veteran characters are lagging behind in combat. The studio is currently looking at ways of “beefing up” these characters (there are no details so far on exactly how buffs will be added). Whatever it entails, either straight stat levels, ability reworks, or changes to specific mechanics are still to be decided.
However, those balance alterations are not yet available and, most likely, will not be available even with Version 3.1. That news, to be announced in a February 14th livestream, is marked to drop fresh content, though to HoYoverse’s current knowledge no imminent character rebalancing has been revealed.
“Hoolay” and “The Giver,” as well as novel sections of Amphoreus, including grand palace interiors and enigmatic crystal formations. In the future players can look forward to a lot of fresh content for Star Rail. For now, all eyes are on HoYoverse’s February 14 livestream, which could offer more details on what’s next for the game.
