Spider-Man 3: Yuri Lowenthal Confirms Peter Parker Major Role

Spider-Man 3 has not been formally announced, but voice actor Yuri Lowenthal has come forward to let fans know that Peter Parker will be a central character in the next game. Speaking to The Direct recently, Lowenthal said, “Peter is not gone. He will be part of the next game, and he won’t be sitting on the couch, I promise.” This should quash rumors that Peter will be retiring his crime-fighting boots for good.

Peter Parker’s Place in Spider-Man 3

The conclusion of Spider-Man 2 left Peter’s future uncertain. Defeating Venom, Peter turned over his duties to Miles Morales and apparently decided to concentrate on his private life with Mary Jane Watson. Fans feared it meant he was hanging up his Spider-Man suit for good. Lowenthal’s assurance, however, definitely indicates Peter will continue being active—presumably as a playable character alongside Miles.

Although it is unclear how the story will handle the two characters, Spider-Man 3 may feature more than one playable hero. Cindy Moon, a character who has also been referred to as Silk in Marvel Comics, was unveiled in the post-credits scene of Spider-Man 2, and this created speculations that she would be a third playable character.

Insomniac’s Current Focus and Future Plans

Insomniac is already developing Wolverine, set to be released in 2026. Leaks also suggest that the studio is working on a Venom spin-off, and perhaps even an X-Men title, although neither of these have been confirmed.

Despite no official word for Spider-Man 3, the monumental success of Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2 ensures that it’s all but guaranteed. Barring a significant shift in Insomniac’s release pattern, the game could come out as early as 2028, following Wolverine’s release.

While details of Spider-Man 3 are still to be determined, Lowenthal’s remark assures fans that Peter Parker is hardly done yet. Whether or not players will be playing as him with Miles and possibly Cindy Moon is up in the air, but that Spider-Man at Insomniac has plenty more tales to share is a surety.
