The greedy Sony backs down on a past year announcement that PSN would be a mandatory service to play their games on PC. However, the rightfully enraged PC crowd made them bend under pressure. It seems that the giant will be revoking this for certain games. We at Infinite Start will document this change.
PC gamers are overjoyed to have another victory against the tyrant that once tried to force an external service upon them. PC is meant to be a freedom based platform where you don’t need to pay subscription to play online. The vast catalogue of the PC is filled with plethora of exclusive online games.
This egregious attempt first became popular when the Helldivers 2 community got rightfully enraged. Sony rolled out an update to require players to have PSN Accounts to even use the game on Steam. Players of the popular title were so angry that demanded Sony to back down from doing this. After many attempts, Sony finally stopped trying to force this terrible requirement.
Being able to do such a thing in the first place is a restriction upon another platform. Something that truly feels quite illegal to make, as Sony has no proper presence in the PC sphere. Aside from some ports of their games, they are mainly stuck with terrible decisions such as deleting physical media. Not to mention that their newest PS5 model has no disc drive.
This attempt to digitalize everything will be the downfall of console gaming. The only thing they had going to combat PC was the ability to own what you buy. When you strip that away from your systems and keep removing features, you end up becoming an under powered PC that is not worth buying. Many gamers nowadays will just keep picking PC over most consoles, since you can build decent rigs for less than a console itself.
