Hextech Chests will be returning in League of Legends after the initial backlash when it was removed during Season 15. As the Act 2 drops next week, the Hextech Chests will make their comeback with the honor system and battle pass.
When League of Legends started Season 15, Riot introduced a lot of significant changes, like the Feats of Strength system which rewarded teams for achieving in-game goals. The loss of Hextech Chests—previously gained by Champion Mastery and other in-game achievements—grated many fans, however. A boycott of the game was even demanded by some fans, causing Riot to rethink its decision.
And now, Hextech Chests are coming back, as announced by Riot Games’ Meddler and Pabro in the recent developer update.
Eight of these Chests will be included in the battle pass, rather than the two skins provided earlier. Hextech Chests will be rewarded by the honor system, except for the above. Nothing significant will be altered regarding chest rewards—players will continue to have the opportunity to receive skins, champions, and other cosmetics.
In addition to the return of Hextech Chests, Riot is also implementing a number of other changes designed to enhance the player experience:
Champion Prices Reduced by Half – Riot is reducing Blue Essence costs by half, allowing players to more easily acquire champions.
Clash PvP Tournaments Resume – Riot is returning to a monthly schedule of Clash tournaments, with March and April tournaments planned.
These changes are meant to bring back more experienced gamers to the game while also making League of Legends more appealing to new players. With Act 2 coming out next week, fans won’t have to wait long and get to witness these changes implemented.
