Konami Announces Darwin’s Paradox

Konami announced Darwin’s Paradox, a new side-scrolling action-adventure title in which the player controls an octopus hero. The game, developed by newly established ZDT Studio, was revealed in the recent PlayStation State of Play – as seen on Konami’s official website – and will release on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.

A New Approach to the Side-Scroller Genre

Konami has a proven track record for the side-scrolling genre through titles such as Contra and Castlevania. Darwin’s Paradox upholds this heritage through a new, offbeat premise. The game follows an octopus by the name of Darwin whose life becomes entangled in a dark scheme for world domination by an evil food industry. Players will employ special octopus-inspired capabilities, including climbing on almost any terrain, blending into the environment, and employing ink to flee or confuse adversaries.

Industry Veterans Drive Development

Darwin’s Paradox is the debut project of ZDT Studio, a French developer founded in 2022. However, the team behind it boasts impressive industry credentials. Romuald Capron, former studio director at Arkane Lyon (Dishonored, Deathloop), and Cedric Lagarrigue, ex-CEO of Focus Entertainment (The Surge, Farming Simulator), are leading the project. Their combined experience suggests that Darwin’s Paradox will be a polished and high-quality platformer.

Konami’s Expanding Lineup

Apart from revealed side-scroller, Konami also featured Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater in the State of Play, which teased the much-awaited remake. With Darwin’s Paradox, the company further expands its product lines in genres as it acquires an off-beat but promising title on its list.

With its innovative gameplay features and experienced staff in charge of the title, Darwin’s Paradox is turning out to be an action-filled new challenger among the side-scrolling titles. Fans will have to wait in anticipation soon as the title is nearing release. Konami has been featuring in top titles lately, and from the looks, the release of Darwin’s Paradox would mark history on the developer’s name.
