Fans have waited decades for Half Life 3 to finally come out after the massive cliffhanger in Half Life 2. G Man is still a huge mystery for everyone involved in the community, and many are still seeking for answers. Perhaps Half Life 3 will answer them, if it ever comes out. Maybe we are all being played like a fiddle, and Half Life X actually is a way to name Half Life Alyx. Half Life Alyx was a VR project by Valve that tried bringing more depth to the already successful Half Life 2. We at Infinite Start will discuss our hypothesis as to what this new updates mean.
It is unlikely that a project like this is real, Gabe Newell has practically forgotten about this series and is only moving forward. Back in the day PC players were amazed by by the evolution of the source engine when they first played Half Life 2. Hype, however, now resides in other intellectual properties that aren’t as interesting as those from the older days. We do not know specifics about Half Life Alyx, but it is assumed it didn’t do too well due to it being locked to VR technology. VR is an unnecessary flop that nobody really asked for and it just comes out from obscurity from time to time bringing another mediocre project.
Having a screen attached to your head and adding motion controls is not particularly innovative. Motion controls have existed for quite a while now, and they were always neat. Not many people are able to adapt to VR due to differences in how they are, some might get motion sickness.
Skeptics remain however, they have never given up on the possibility of Half Life 3 being a thing eventually. Perhaps Valve will give those who believe another experience that will blow their minds.
