GTA 5 on PC to Receive Major Graphical Upgrades

Ever since GTA 5 was released on the Xbox Series X|S and Playstation 5, the game looked significantly better than it’s PC counterpart with the addition of Ray Tracing features and more added in-game contents. And yesterday, developer Rockstar Games has officially announced that the PC version of GTA 5 is set to receive all of those graphical upgrades and more via a free update which will arrive on March 4. So if you’re on PC and you play GTA 5, like a whole lot of gamers out there, you’re in for a real visual treat.

Of course as a game that has proven itself to be timeless, spanning multiple console generations, it’s only expected for GTA 5 to keep up with the times with upgraded visuals and other technological enhancements.

Below are some of the key features of the new upgrade for GTA 5 PC.

• Ray tracing features only available on PC such as ambient occlusion and global illumination — plus ray traced shadows and reflections first debuted on consoles
• Support for AMD FSR1 and FSR3, and NVIDIA DLSS 3
• Faster loading times using SSD and DirectStorage on supported devices and configurations
• Enhanced support for higher resolutions, higher aspect ratios, and higher framerates
• DualSense® controller support, with adaptive triggers
• Enhanced audio with support for Dolby Atmos and improved fidelity of speech, cinematics, and music

And to be able to run smoothly with all the upgraded graphical features, Rockstar has also listed a new Recommended System Requirements which include an Intel Core i5-9600K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600, 16GB of RAM and an RTX 3060 or RX 6600 XT graphics card.

Besides the visual uplift, the free update will also include “all the latest vehicles and performance upgrades available at Hao’s Special Works, animal encounters, and access to purchase a GTA+ Membership”, and more. Also, players will be able to migrate their story and GTA Online progressions to the newer version seamlessly, which will have kernal-based anti-cheat protection and proactive voice chat moderation, for keeping the PC version on par with the consoles.

Rockstar has also confirmed that players will be able to stick to the older version of GTA 5 if their hardware do not meet the bumped up system requirements of the new update. So no worries there, however, players on the older version of the game won’t be able to play online with those who have upgraded.
