Digimon Story Time Stranger is set to release on PC in 2025

Digimon fans including myself have been waiting for almost 8 years for this game. Digimon Story Time Stranger will hit the PC market somewhere around 2025. This new Digimon title will allow fans of Cyber Sleuth to experience familiar game mechanics once again. After the departure (or forced removal) of Habu Kazumasa from the director role, many fans were concerned that the project was cancelled. Thankfully, this was not the case, but one can’t hope but feel a bit uneasy, wondering if Habu could leave his mark in the game. We at Infinite Start will cover this new Digimon adventure.

A tale of gods

Expected by many observant fans of the franchise, yes, the title will in fact focus on the Olympos XII in full glory. Digimon lore is vast and complex but this title might be good enough for people new to the IP, similar to the role Cyber Sleuth played. Time Stranger seems to abandon the idea of players delving through digital dungeons that aren’t the Digital World. Instead, they have decided to allow players to visit the Digital World for real now.

A principal critique that Cyber Sleuth received, despite its overall positive reception, was that environments were lacking. This seems to not be the case for Time Stranger, which just from glimpsing at the trailer, you can see plenty of different environments at play. Players can also expect that the game will also be focused around turn based mechanics, however, it has been stated some changes were made to balance.

We can hope that these changes mean that the experience can be more challenging to veterans of the franchise. What matters the most for the Story sub series however, is the story itself. Cyber Sleuth provided a compelling narrative that properly represented the strengths of the franchise, we do hope that the new title does it better than its predecessor. The title has been added to the Steam Store some hours ago, you may want to wish list it in case you want to give it a try.
