After lots of experimenting done by Blizzard, a Diablo 4 update nerfs Witchcraft to keep it from breaking the game. However, this nerf will be temporary until further results are acquired through play testing. We at Infinite Start will discuss these changes in depth.
Decay Augments have been one of the worst balance changes in Diablo 4. Thanks to this Witchcraft ability, it is possible to rack up impossible amounts of damage. Due to a bug in calculating damage output, it is possible to one shot almost anything via overflow. Blizzard has decided to properly disable this Augment. It is still possible to buy it, however, it cannot be used.
Necromancers are a very powerful class that relies on these abilities to be able to thrive. The temporary nerf to decay, however, severely affects their play style. The momentary solution to deactivate it might be reversed once a proper fix has been done. After all, the patch still hasn’t rolled out for anyone yet, just the temporary nerf.
It is important to balance these problematic abilities, leaving them broken for too long can cause discontent with the fans. Variety is the spice of life in games like Diablo 4, were builds are one of the primary reasons people sink hundreds of hours. Diablo 4 has been one of the best games in the series according to many.
While still on Season 7, Season 8 is also around the corner. Season 8 also plans to fix other issues that are happening with under powered classes. By doing proper fixes, it is possible to attain a higher level of variety when it comes to builds. The proper patch that might fix Witchcraft will be dropped on February 4th.
