Civilization 7 has a rough release, accruing mixed reception

Seems like Civilization 7 has a rough release, that’s very unfortunate after being over hyped for so long. It feels like this timeline for gaming only brings us half baked products that makes the predecessors look amazing. And there’s nothing wrong with that, plenty of old games have more quality in them than most modern releases. People debate if they should go back to Civilization 6, and we at Infinite Start will cover if you should do so.

Royal Fail

The Civilization series is a very old one that still keeps coming back from time to time. Fans of strategy games often regard it as one of the best series available. It has also spawned a bunch of memes in the PC community due to some bugs and quirks. The original Civilization has a bug that causes Gandhi to become one of the most dangerous leaders in the game. This is due to an overflow when trying to calculate how peaceful an unit is, causing it to become one of the most aggressive and nuclear threatening leaders.

Quirks like this might ruin the enjoyment for some, but they are minor and funny things that need setup to be reproduced. However, the industry is far more advanced now, and seems like bugs and errors have advanced with it too. Bugs can range from things that make the game unplayable, to others that can directly nuke your PC’s files for real. This is due to the terrible quality control and egregious crunch that is happening in waves never seen before.

The PC version of Civilization 7 seems to be merely a test build that was shipped towards early adopters. Many claim the UI is unfinished and feels like a prototype of what it should be. This has tarnished the reputation of an otherwise successful and recognizable series, maybe they should have left this one cook for more time. Maybe it is better to await for the game to properly released instead of being an early adopter, nothing good ever comes of it.
