Several copies of the upcoming and highly anticipated Assassin’s Creed Shadows have leaked ahead of it’s official launch with players streaming many sections of the game online. As reported by the GamingLeaksandRumours subreddit, several posts (which have been removed) have revealed in-game images and gameplay from an user who had bought the game from an online marketplace. Multiple Twitch streams have also showed leaked gameplay of Assassin’s Creed Shadows and have been promptly removed so far.
And in a recent statement posted in it’s social media channels yesterday, publisher Ubisoft has also acknowledged that multiple copies of Assassin’s Creed Shadows have indeed gotten out ahead of it’s official release date which is really unfortunate.
“We are aware players have accessed Assassin’s Creed Shadows ahead of its official release,” Ubisoft has officially confirmed the leaks. “The development team is still working on patches to prepare the experience for launch and any footage shared online does not represent the final quality of the game.
“Leaks are unfortunate and can diminish the excitement for players. We kindly ask you not to spoil the experience for others. Thank you to our community for already taking steps to protect everyone from spoilers,” the company stated.
While it’s tempting for any fan of the series to check out the leaked gameplay online, it’s important to remember that it’s far from the finished state that’s going to come out on the game’s official release date and is most likely an earlier build that’s filled with numerous bugs and other glitches. So even if you can’t resist to get a good look at the leaked gameplay, you shouldn’t base any opinions from what you see right now as it’s clearly from an unfinished state of the game’s development.
Massive Open World titles like Assassin’s Creed Shadows generally require several post-launch patches to get into a fully workable state, as happened with many other huge releases in recent years. So the leaked gameplay no way represents the final state of the game or comes even remotely close to.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is set to arrive on March 20 for Playstation 5, Xbox Series X|S and the PC platform.
