Spider-Man 2 PC Gets First Hotfix Update Following Rocky Launch

Just a day after its PC release, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has received its first hotfix update aimed at fixing some of the crashes and graphical glitches that frustrated early players. While the game brings enhanced graphics, ray tracing, and upscaling options to PC, technical issues have led to mixed reviews on Steam, with only 55% of players leaving positive feedback.

First Patch Targets Major Issues

Developer Nixxes rolled out Hotfix v1.31.0.0, which addresses some of the most pressing problems, including:

  • Device hang crashes related to ray tracing
  • Various stability improvements

Nixxes has assured players that more updates are on the way, urging users to report any remaining issues through their support site.

Sony Continues Expanding to PC

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is part of Sony’s larger push to bring PlayStation exclusives to PC, with The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered set to launch on April 3. Meanwhile, Sony recently removed its controversial PSN account requirement for PC players and is now offering in-game rewards for those who choose to link accounts.

What’s Next for Spider-Man on PC?

Despite the rough launch, Spider-Man 2 has the potential to shine with future patches, mods, and performance improvements. The previous two titles—Spider-Man Remastered and Miles Morales—also had early technical hiccups before becoming well-optimized PC experiences.

With Insomniac already working on Marvel’s Wolverine and a potential Spider-Man 3, this PC release gives more players the chance to experience one of 2023’s biggest superhero games—once the bugs are ironed out. Although the title received mixed reviews for its various glitches and bugs on its official PC port, Spider-Man 2 is clearly a great inclusion for PC users and has the potential to be among the top PC titles when its bugs are no more.

Fans are hopeful that the hotfix is only the beginning of a perfectly smooth experience on Spider-Man 2, and that with time the game would slowly meet the expectations fans formerly had before its release.
