Marvel Rivals Fans Think New Map Easter Egg Teases Wong as a Future Hero

Fans of Marvel Rivals believe they’ve spotted a hint that Wong, the trusted ally of Doctor Strange, could join the game’s playable roster in the future. This speculation arises from an Easter egg spotted in the trailer for the game’s new Sanctum Sanctorum map, which will debut in the highly anticipated Season 1 update, subtitled “Eternal Night.”

As noted by Reddit user fugo_hate, a painting of Wong is briefly visible in the trailer, seemingly inspired by the character’s MCU portrayal by Benedict Wong. This discovery has sparked excitement among fans, who are speculating about how Wong’s mystical abilities might translate into gameplay. His inclusion would fit well with the supernatural themes of Eternal Night, which features Dracula as the season’s primary antagonist.

Season 1 of Marvel Rivals officially launches on January 10 and promises a host of new content. In addition to Dracula, players will encounter other supernatural Marvel characters like Blade, as well as all four members of the Fantastic Four throughout the season. Alternate skins for Mister Fantastic and Invisible Woman, depicting their darker alter egos the Maker and Malice, have also been confirmed.

If Wong were to join the game’s roster, it wouldn’t be his first appearance in a Marvel video game. Wong has previously been featured in mobile games like Marvel Contest of Champions and Marvel Snap, as well as console titles like LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2. However, his popularity has skyrocketed in recent years thanks to his central role in the MCU.

That said, the painting could simply be a nod to Wong’s significance in Doctor Strange’s story, as the Sanctum Sanctorum map is filled with references to Marvel’s supernatural lore. Whether or not Wong will eventually become a playable character remains to be seen, but fans won’t have to wait long to experience Eternal Night.

When the new season launches, players can explore three fresh locations, challenge Dracula, and enjoy the new Doom Match mode. Mister Fantastic and Invisible Woman will also become playable on January 10, adding even more variety to Marvel Rivals’ already expansive roster.
