Exciting Pokémon GO Leak Suggests Upcoming Legendary Dynamax Raids

In an unexpected development, Pokémon GO may soon feature Dynamax Raids with the legendary Kanto birds—Moltres, Zapdos, and Articuno. While official confirmation is yet to be made, a tweet from Pokémon GO’s Saudi Arabia account briefly disclosed the upcoming event before being swiftly deleted. The announcement, reportedly shared by a Reddit user on The Silph Road subreddit, suggests that these iconic legendaries will appear in Dynamax Raids from January 20 to February 3.

This potential addition marks a significant milestone in Pokémon GO’s Dynamax feature, which first launched in September 2024. While several Pokémon have received Dynamax treatments in the game, this would be the debut of Dynamax Legendaries, a move that could reinvigorate interest in the raid system. The legendary bird trio has long been a staple of Pokémon GO, having been introduced in traditional raids during the game’s early years and reappearing in various forms, including their shiny and Galarian variants.

If the leak is accurate, these stated versions could pave the way for other legendary Pokémon to join future Max Raids. In Pokémon Sword and Shield, several legendaries like Mewtwo and Ho-Oh received Dynamax forms, so it wouldn’t be surprising if Pokémon GO followed suit. However, the news also raises questions about raid difficulty, as previous Max Raids faced criticism for requiring large groups to complete successfully. Players have voiced concerns about the high participation demands, which could potentially limit engagement with Dynamax events.

Meanwhile, Niantic has already outlined several major events for January 2025, starting with Ralts as the featured Pokémon for the Community Day Classic on January 25. A Shadow Raid Day focusing on Shadow Ho-Oh is set for January 19, offering up to seven free Raid Passes for participants. Additionally, the host cities for Pokémon GO Fest 2025—Osaka, Jersey City, and Paris—have also been revealed, promising an action-packed year ahead.

As fans await official word on the Dynamax birds, the possibility of seeing Moltres, Zapdos, and Articuno in this format has sparked excitement across the community. If confirmed, it could mark the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Pokémon GO’s raid mechanics.
