Palworld January Update Brings Lunar New Year Skins and Key Improvements

The latest Palworld update, version v0.4.14, delivers a festive touch with new Lunar New Year skins for five Pals, alongside balance tweaks and critical bug fixes. This marks the game’s second update for January 2025, emphasizing developer Pocketpair’s commitment to continuous improvements as Palworld enters its second year in early access.

The headline addition is the Spring Festival-themed skins, allowing players to dress up their Pals for the Lunar New Year. The skins include Lucky Cattiva, Fortune-Bringer Lyleen, Fortune-Bringer Lyleen Noct, Lion-Dancer Chillet, and Lion-Dancer Chillet Ignis. Players must own the respective Pals to use the skins, but even newcomers can participate since Cattiva is an early-game companion.

Several gameplay adjustments accompany this update. Pals now automatically target the nearest enemy upon summoning, a refinement following the controversial December summoning changes. Large Pals, previously hindered by base layouts, now navigate bases more smoothly, mirroring the movement of smaller Pals. This ensures they can carry out tasks efficiently without colliding with ceilings or tight spaces.

Other key changes include reducing the power cost for the large electric egg incubator, boosting weapon durability, and increasing the speed of crude oil extraction and production. Additionally, advanced weapons like the Advanced Bow now maintain damage at longer ranges, enhancing their effectiveness.

The update also addresses long-standing bugs, such as crashes caused by Pals with negative passive skills and issues with disappearing terrain and treasure chests at the Oil Rig. Developers also fixed an unintended cross-play feature between PS5 and Xbox, which is still under development.

This latest patch follows an earlier January update focused on improving gameplay flow, such as enhancing flying Pals’ turning speed and expanding blueprint availability. With these consistent updates, Palworld continues to evolve, offering players fresh content and refined mechanics to enhance their monster-catching survival experience.
