Nvidia deals a fatal blow to the 1050ti after ending support

Nvidia is always on top of their game when it comes to trend chasing. After their new CUDA update rollout, Nvidia deals a fatal blow to the GeForce 700 series onward. This includes our beloved 1050ti, who was always there to leverage resource demanding games. We at Infinite Start will cover the topic in depth.

Time for an upgrade… or not?

The GeForce editions that came in the 2013’s era were most of the time amazing GPUs. The 1050ti is one of the most popular and mentioned video cards even today. Thanks to its amazing aftermarket cost, it has been able to provide many users with big power. The 1050ti was also resource efficient, being suitable for beginner PC builds. Back in the day, this monster GPU was able to carry multiple intensive titles.

However, with the latest CUDA 12.8 patch rollout, Nvidia has declared that the GeForce 700 series is dead. No future updates will be given out to these GPUs. This is usually a period of time when companies rollout harmful updates that makes systems unstable. Considering the current streak with Nvidia, it would be wise to disable updates for these GPUs, in case you own one.

Hardware as good as this is worth to keep in case a backup is needed. It is still possible to assemble older systems with aftermarket stock for quite cheap. As hardware development keeps advancing, its normal to see older software be unsupported on those. So keeping older PC builds can prove beneficial in the long run, since gaming is in its turbulent times.

It would be nice if companies cared enough to enable proper backwards compatibility with software. However, this might never be the case due to what they claim could be a potential security concern. It is always wise to keep your older systems instead of dumping them away, you never know when you will need them.
