The Dungeon Fighter universe expands

Dungeon Fighter Online has been one of the most critically acclaimed titles by Neople, and one of the most popular MMO’s still running to this day. Neople has always been quite creative, focusing on making vibrant worlds with lots of lore to them. The pixel art style of DFO is still as beautiful as it was on release. However, even with this level of care, any company is bound to commit a blunder or two.

The cancellation of ProjectBBQ, a 3D MMO that was directly tied to the universe of DFO, has left many fans wondering what the company was planning to do next. Years later, DNF: Duel dropped to the surprise of many, but happened to be quite the terrible fighting game. Despite its charm and lore accuracy it was a very unbalanced game with myriads of issues.

The First Berserk Khazan is, however, a hopeful glimmer into a more stable route. This new souls-like game promises a bombastic action RPG adventure, as experienced by many in the demo. We can be hopeful that the project manages to deliver, finally giving a proper spinoff and expansion to the DFO universe.

A new souls-like game might seem like a safe bet, but there’s possibilities that it could remain obscured by others. When a genre is popular, many projects tend to try and cash in on the current trend, often remaining forgotten. However, as long as the game is good, it might pass on as being another gem in the souls-like genre.
