Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Launches to Mixed Reviews on PC

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has finally made its debut on PC; however, its launch has not proceeded as smoothly as fans had anticipated (some were genuinely enthusiastic about it). Although the 2023 sequel garnered significant acclaim on PlayStation 5, the PC version has encountered mixed reviews. This is mainly due to glitches, crashes and performance-related issues.

Released on January 30 for Steam and the Epic Games Store, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 currently possesses a “Mixed” review rating on Steam, with only 55% of over 1,600 reviews being positive. Many players, including those with high-end PCs, are complaining about encountering serious performance issues. These issues range from stuttering and frame drops to game-breaking crashes.

The launch was already enveloped in concern; but, Sony and Insomniac Games offered little marketing or pre-release information, completely bypassing pre-orders. While previous PC adaptations of Marvel’s Spider-Man and Miles Morales were well-received, this release has struggled to fulfill expectations because of its low stability and higher system requirements.

The PC adaptation of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 boasts several remarkable features that distinguish it from other platforms: it offers an unlocked framerate, enhanced ray tracing and support for ultra-wide monitors. However, even th toose with high-end hardware (such as an RTX 4090 and Intel i9-12900K) encounter considerable issues. This situation renders the game challenging to appreciate, but it is expected to be immensely enjoyable (because of the exhilarating gameplay). Although many players eagerly anticipate its release, the existing problems can be quite exasperating.

Sony Tries to Win Over PC Players

In response to criticism regarding the necessity of a (PSN account) for PC games, Sony is endeavoring to motivate players to synchronize their accounts. Those who successfully connect their PSN and Steam profiles will be able to get exclusive in-game rewards, such as the Spider-Man 2099 Black Suit and the Miles Morales 2099 Suit. However, although Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 showcases exciting technical enhancements for PC users, its problematic launch has left many individuals feeling dissatisfied.

A powerful patch update will probably be man enough to address performance concerns: this situation has prompted some players to caution others to delay their purchases, because they wish to prevent further widespread disappointment.
