Marvel Rivals Players Frustrated Over Slow Battle Pass Progression

Players of Marvel Rivals have voiced concerns about the slow progression of the game’s battle pass, suggesting changes to better reward playtime. Central to the criticism is the reliance on Chrono Tokens, the game’s premium battle pass currency, which can currently only be earned through challenges and daily objectives. Fans argue that this system leaves those unable to log in daily struggling to complete the battle pass.

The Marvel Rivals battle pass for Season 1: Eternal Night Falls features a mix of rewards, including skins for Peni Parker and Scarlet Witch, Units, Lattice, sprays, and more. While some rewards are available for free, others require Chrono Tokens to unlock. Players who purchase the premium battle pass benefit from a unique feature that allows progression beyond the season’s end. However, despite these positives, many feel the system heavily favors daily logins over longer gaming sessions.

On Reddit, user Lady_Eisheth sparked discussion by pointing out the challenges casual players face. They noted that despite playing consistently, they had only completed two pages of the battle pass. The post questioned how players with limited time, such as those juggling work or school, could reasonably progress. Many commenters agreed, suggesting that small amounts of Chrono Tokens be rewarded after each match to incentivize longer sessions and provide more flexibility.

While some fans defended the current system, arguing that NetEase Games designed it to encourage daily engagement and maintain a steady player base, comparisons to other games revealed room for improvement. For example, Fortnite increased XP rewards during its Chapter 6 Season 1 to help players complete its battle pass.

NetEase Games has yet to address these concerns publicly, but many players hope the feedback will lead to adjustments in future seasons. The addition of post-match rewards for Chrono Tokens could strike a balance, catering to both daily players and those who prefer marathon gaming sessions.
