Marvel Rivals Devs Address 30 FPS Damage Bug

Marvel Rivals players have encountered a frustrating bug that causes some heroes to deal reduced damage when the game is played at 30 FPS, a problem the development team has acknowledged and is actively working to fix. This issue primarily affects players on lower-end devices, making the game less balanced compared to those running at higher frame rates like 60 or 120 FPS.

Reports from the community suggest that this 30 FPS glitch affects specific heroes, including Dr. Strange, Magik, Star-Lord, Venom, and Wolverine. The bug seems tied to certain abilities, such as Wolverine’s Feral Leap and Savage Claw, which deal noticeably less damage when tested at lower frame rates. Players noticed these discrepancies most prominently when attacking stationary targets, while they’re harder to identify during live matches.

In a post shared on the Marvel Rivals official Discord server, Community Manager James confirmed these reports. He explained that lower frame rates not only impact movement but also extend to damage output for certain abilities. While the team is working on a fix, James admitted that resolving the issue might take some time.

The Season 1 launch, scheduled for January 11, 2025, is expected to address the 30 FPS-related damage problem in some form. While the exact scope of the fix remains unclear, the developers are prioritizing the issue. If a complete solution isn’t ready by the start of Season 1, players can expect further updates in the near future.

The bug appears to stem from client-side prediction, a programming technique used in online games to reduce the appearance of lag by allowing characters to move on-screen before the server processes the input. While this feature generally enhances gameplay, it seems to be causing discrepancies in damage calculations at lower frame rates in Marvel Rivals.

Marvel Rivals launched in early December 2025 and quickly gained traction in the hero shooter genre, earning an impressive 80% player approval rating out of over 132,000 Steam reviews. However, like any new game, it has faced its share of issues, including balance concerns and now the 30 FPS bug.

Despite these challenges, the game’s community remains optimistic. Players have praised the developers for their transparency and proactive approach to addressing player feedback. As Season 1 approaches, fans are eager to see how Marvel Rivals evolves and whether it can resolve lingering technical issues.

With the 30 FPS bug likely to be fixed soon, Marvel Rivals is poised to deliver an even better experience for its growing player base. Fans can look forward to an improved competitive landscape as the developers iron out these early challenges.
