Helldivers 2 Director Admits Plans for Studio’s Next Game

In a recent X post in response to Helldivers 2 fans, Helldivers 2 Director Johan Pilestedt shared some info about the studio’s next game and a quick peek into past games that were never released.

Helldivers 2 is arguably one of the best games released in 2024. Being focused on teamwork and communication, Helldivers 2 has built a steady stream of loyal and dedicated players who have grown to love the game’s combat features and other third-person elements. Arrowhead Game Studios, being the mastermind behind the game has also come up with several brilliant ideas for game titles, some of which were released, and some of which never came to light.

In response to Helldivers 2 fans on X, Pilestedt explains that he’s in the early stages of the studio’s next game. On that note, Pilestedt requesed for fans to state what they wanted to see in coming games. His request hit hundreds of replies with one fan stating he would love to see an on-rails aircraft in the same vein as Star Fox. To his surprise, Pilstedt replied that the studio had made something similar. Although the game in question titled Eagles of Democracy didn’t come to light, Pilestedt shared a few images taken from the game.

Many other expectations popped up and Pilestedt was open about the studio’s benched and unfinished games – which is good to hear. Helldivers 2 is taking enough of Arrowhead Game Studios’ time, and with a new game from the studio in early stages, fans can only expect to wait lots of years till the title’s release. On that note, Arrowhead Game Studios has been releasing new content for Helldivers 2, including the recent Omens of Tyranny update that was released in December 2024 and contained a lot of content. Helldivers 2 would only keep on receiving new updates as the developer supposedly has much more surprises and a plethora of content lying in wait.
