Havok showcases their updated engine after years of silence

After a decade of radio silence from their Youtube account, Havok showcases a new update to their physics engine. One might have thought that Havok engine might have been replaced for something more modern. It is however, a reality that it is currently used to power many modern games such as Helldivers 2. We at Infinite Start will cover such interesting comeback.

Wreaking Havok

Havok is actually a very old physics engine that has been used even during the PS2 days. Its popularity peaked around the 2010’s with titles such as Halo 4 and Dark Souls. However, we can still see it to this day on our modern gaming industry. Giving the power to do crazy things with physics to developers who wish to make their games interesting.

It was brought to the attention of many that a recent video has Havok showcase an update to their current physics engine. It is truly stunning to see how much advancement has been brought lately on this sector. In our current deluge of unnecessary graphical advancements, its important not to neglect other aspects.

Physics bring a ton of customization to how you wish to tackle the game development process. Back on the day of the PS2, it was impressive to see environments which such levels of interaction. It is thanks to Havok that it was actually possible to implement such features with ease.

Perhaps a concern that can be brought to the table is how optimized this new update would be. It is important to always care about game optimization, and keeping a standard is necessary for others to follow it. We can only hope that the new Havok update has taken this into consideration, as they build upon such an interesting engine.

There is more havoc brewing in the horizon, as it seems that there’s plans to also bring more updates. Not only does a physics engine exist, but also path finding systems are about to come. We are Infinite Start are interested in bringing more news as they arrive.
