Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth comes to Linux

After some time awaiting to accrue a larger library of AAA games, Linux users now finally have the chance to try one of the most acclaimed titles. That’s right, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth comes to Linux. Now we will be able to engage with Cloud’s adventure, anywhere, thanks to the Steam Deck and SteamOS. We at Infinite Start are excited to give coverage of this great event for Linux users.

Linux users are eating good now

After waiting for so long, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is Steam Deck verified, allowing players to be able to properly experience the game without any complications. It’s actually impressive that they managed to fit such a game into a handheld system, but once you know the Steam Deck is upgradable, it does make sense how.

Being a hefty game comes with its caveats however, you might not be able to run it at the settings one would normally use on a proper PC build. However, playability is what matters the most when it comes to things working, rather than graphic fidelity. The game now runs smoothly, on the Steam Deck and by proxy, on SteamOS.

Since SteamOS is mainly based on the Arch Linux distribution, that means the game can practically run in most Linux distributions without any issues. This is yet another huge victory on the Linux space. Since Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is Steam Deck verified, there’s a possibility that the market share for the Linux ecosystem might grow substantially.

Back in the older days of Linux, it was a boon to be able to run modern releases. Nowadays, it has become the norm to be able to play these games in different operating systems with ease. Thanks to the partnership of Valve with the Arch Linux community, the reality of the Linux desktop gaming experience is slowly coming to fruition. Being Steam Deck verified pretty much gives a seal of approval that the game works on Linux without much hassle.
