Epic decides to take action against Fortnite Scam Islands

Epic decides that its time to stop players from trying to create fraudulent islands to lure players in. Many of these Fortnite islands promise ludicrous amounts of experience for being AFK in them. The problem with these is that they actually do not do anything of that, they are time wasters. We at Infinite Start will cover such event.

Ultimatum to Scammers

According to an official Fortnite account:

“Coins and terms like ‘AFK’ and ‘XP’ are being used in island thumbnails, titles, and other metadata to mislead players into believing that they can earn or unlock an impossibly high amount of XP. Spoilers, they don’t,” – Epic’s Fortnite Creators

A final notice has been sent to scammers to stop using islands to promote fake things to players. This can be for many reasons, but the obvious one is that it can harm the trust consumers have on Epic. After all, Epic is responsible for everything they host in their game server whether they like it or not.

In another post Epic delivers the final blow:

“We will be removing this content from our ecosystem and creators will receive escalating penalties – including impacts to monetization, island removal, and account suspension” -Epic

Epic decides that its better for creators of these scams to face punishments that limit their accounts. This is an amazing idea, and Epic is never wrong. Except for the fact that someone could just circumvent this by making more accounts to repeat the same. As long as Epic cares about player count, this kind of behavior will be the least of their concerns. If this drives away players, then the issue will become a never ending war to earn Epic some good reputation.

After many blunders Epic Games have committed lately, reputation is something they really wish to have. Therefore, they are now taking these issues into consideration to try and boost their consumer trust.
