Destiny 2 crossovers with Star Wars in a new epic collab

Destiny 2 crossovers with Star Wars, bringing Storm Trooper cosmetics to the cash shop. A crossover like this can help bridge new fans from each franchise over. Crossovers are cool when they are handled properly. Most of the time, crossovers prove to be popular with the masses, due to their what-if appeal. We at Infinite Start will cover if that was the case.

Destiny 2 x Star Wars

Being both Sci-Fi franchises, it is a no brainier for the corporate caste to try and cash in on whats popular. It has been reported by many that the crossover is being well received. Destiny 2 is also having a new update, however, it has been totally eclipsed by the fact that this new collab is way more popular.

It is cool to be able to get this sort of crossovers, but it is also a fact that most of them are just brand cash grabs. The only content they add to the game is mostly cosmetic, that means, just “micro” transactions. Live Service games tend to push this sort of content left and right, trying to get the most amount of players to spend.

Let’s not mention the harm that this kind of content tends to bring upon brand awareness. Many old franchises nowadays are just used as crossover fodder and only become mainstream due to that. Many consumers do not particularly care about these uses, therefore, lowering franchise quality due to lack of identity.

It has been proved to be more profitable to exploit these sort of crossovers, Fortnite essentially lives on crossover money. In the current gaming landscape, it is indeed very common to see this trend. And it makes one think, is it really worth it to create something new if its going to fall into the jaws of a crossover?

It makes no sense to not respect what your IP is about, but decisions like the Destiny 2 crossover are made by the corporate caste.
