Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 8 Accidentally Released Early on the Playstation 5

The long awaited Patch 8 of Baldur’s Gate 3 which is also set to be the final major update for the acclaimed 2023 RPG title, is available for access on the Playstation 5 right now, but is not really supposed to be. In a recent social media post, developer Larian Studios has revealed that players on the PS5 have access to Patch 8 of Baldur’s Gate 3, even though the update itself is not even ready for release as stress testing for the patch hasn’t even started as of yet.

“No, the Patch 8 stress test hasn’t yet begun,” the post from the studio reads. “Yes, PS5 players do currently have access to Patch 8. While we work with our partners to understand what’s going on, please note that any new saves made while on Patch 8 will not be compatible with Patch 7. How’s your Monday going?”

The patch 8 for Baldur’s Gate 3 is expected to bring a host of new features into the game such as cross-platform progression and play, photo mode along with 12 new subclasses, whole new abilities, animations, VFX additions, summons, cantrips, and even new voicelines. The massive new update is set to liven up the game in more ways than one, and will definitely add even more playability to Baldur’s Gate 3.

Though for now, it’s not really recommended for PS5 players to download and install this patch as it’s currently unfinished and probably contains unintended bugs and other technical issues that can negatively affect your gameplay. And while it’s still going to take some time, this also ensures that the much anticipated Patch 8 is well on it’s way towards it’s proper release on all platforms, which is great news for all players of the game.

Baldur’s Gate 3 received significant praise for it’s gameplay, narrative, production values and voice acting performances. The acclaimed RPG also won several Game of the Year awards since it’s release on the Playstation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Mac OS.
