Marvel Rivals Players Frustrated As Cheaters Dominate Ranked

One of the most common problems with popular live-service games is the infestation of cheaters seeking easy wins, easy in-game currencies, and XP. Marvel Rivals reportedly has the same cheating issue as most live-service games. Marvel Rivals is an action game released on December 6 and is among the most popular live-service games launched in 2024. But just like games like Black Ops 6 and similar, Marvel Rivals doesn’t have a powerful anti-cheat system to prevent cheaters from dominating matches. That said, some Marvel Rivals players aren’t so happy with the cheaters in the game and have started voicing out their frustrations on various social platforms.

Marvel Rivals was launched to a series of positive reviews from fans and critics, gaining popularity soon after its release from various gamers who love Marvel movies. Furthermore, Marvel Rivals has been achiveing considerably high numbers of concurrent players on Steam, up to 360,000 active players daily. That said, Marvel Rivals has reportedly peaked at over 480,000 concurrent players, according to SteamDB. The game’s huge popularity certainly invites some downsides as the Marvel Rivals community has been running into multiple cheaters who ruin the fun for legit players in Ranked matches.

Several Marvel Rivals players have reported encountering cheaters in the game, even popular streamers like Eskay and Bogur have also voiced out their frustrations about the issue with cheaters dominating their ranked matches essentially ruining the fun for everyone else. Eskay stated on X that 75% of his matches “contained blatant cheaters” with a “different person every time.” While Bogur complained of “60% of his games [being] cheaters.” Bogur went on to say, “If they don’t do something about this soon, the game will be unplayable in like a month.”

At this point, Bogur is clearly viewing the game in a realistic way. After all, no player would enjoy playing a game they know they stand no chance of winning, as it would only get them even more frustrated. From the ruckus all over the community about the presence of cheaters, it indicates that cheaters aren’t only present in high-level ranked matches but low-level ones too.

In another X post from @roflgatorOW it seems there are already aimbotters in the game.

With all that said, developer NetEase needs to make moves to tackle the issue if they want to keep their player base in check. Although Marvel Rivals has been receiving updates lately, more content and events clearly isn’t enough if gamers feel their matches are being ruined by others. With new updates, patches, and powerful reinforcements to Marvel Rivals’ anti-cheat, players hope cheaters would gradually be a thing of the past for their favorite Marvel-based game.
