Nintendo Confirms Switch Successor Will be Backwards Compatible

Nintendo confirmed their highly anticipated Switch successor will work with Nintendo Switch Games.

This was revealed by Nintendo in a post on X (formerly Twitter) about today‘s Corporate Management Policy Briefing.

This is Furukawa. At today’s Corporate Management Policy Briefing, we announced that Nintendo Switch software will also be playable on the successor to Nintendo Switch. Nintendo Switch Online will be available on the successor to Nintendo Switch as well. Further information about the successor to Nintendo Switch, including its compatibility with Nintendo Switch, will be announced at a later date.

Additional details about the Nintendo Switch successor were not revealed. With the holiday season fast approaching it’s likely a reveal will take place in 2025. Still, it’s great to know the games currently purchased will work going forward.
