In an exciting development for PC gaming, Steam has hit a major milestone by surpassing 38 million concurrent players. A staggering 38,367,277 gamers logged in simultaneously, marking a new record for the popular gaming platform.
According to SteamDB, this surge comes just a month after Steam previously set a record with over 37 million users. The growth of over a million players in such a short period shows the ongoing popularity of games like Counter-Strike 2, PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS, and DOTA 2, all of which continue to dominate the charts.
Notably, Black Myth: Wukong remains a top contender, even though it dropped slightly to fourth place. Meanwhile, quirky indie game Banana, which involves clicking bananas, has been a surprising hit, climbing into the top five. Games like Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 and Satisfactory are also among the most played titles, contributing to the platform’s record-breaking player base.
In an even more unexpected turn, Deadlock, a still-unreleased title from Valve, managed to gather over 150,000 players within 24 hours, hinting at its potential success.
As we look ahead, this record may not last long. With upcoming releases like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, it’s possible Steam will soon surpass 40 million concurrent players.
