Hyper Light Breaker, the anticipated 3D rogue-lite from Heart Machine, has experienced another delay, now aiming for an early 2025 release in Early Access on Steam. This marks the latest in a series of setbacks for the game, which was initially slated for a 2023 release.
Heart Machine founder Alx Preston explained that the team needs more time to polish the game to meet their high standards. “We don’t want to ship a project, even in Early Access, that we’re not satisfied with on a number of fronts,” Preston stated. He emphasized the importance of ensuring a high-quality experience for players and maintaining the mental and physical well-being of the development team.
The game, a follow-up to the 2016 hit Hyper Light Drifter, was first announced in March 2022 and has since seen multiple delays. Originally set to launch in 2023, the game’s release was first pushed to 2024, and now to early 2025.
Preston reassured fans that the delay would allow the team to better support community feedback during the Early Access period. He added, “We really need to make sure that the core foundational units of the game are as strong as they can be.”
