Fallout: London Developers Announce Plans to Establish Indie Studio

The developers behind the popular Fallout: London mod for Fallout 4 have announced their intention to transition from modding to indie game development. Despite the success of their ambitious project, Team Folon, led by Dean Carter, faces financial challenges that have motivated them to form their own indie studio.

In an interview with the BBC, Carter explained, “As much as I love that it’s a free project, free doesn’t pay our bills.” While Fallout: London has garnered significant attention and donations from the community, Carter and his team aim to channel these funds into establishing their indie studio. This new venture will allow them to create original games and work directly with the community without any external oversight.

Fallout: London was released on July 25, 2024, and has seen tremendous success, with over 500,000 redemptions in its first 24 hours on GOG, making it the platform’s fastest-redeemed game. The developers plan to continue supporting the mod with stability updates and additional content before fully transitioning to their new studio.

Team Folon’s move to establish an indie studio marks a significant shift from volunteer modding to professional game development, driven by the need for financial sustainability and creative freedom. This transition is eagerly anticipated by fans and the gaming community alike.
