Star Wars Outlaws, the upcoming open-world game by Ubisoft’s Massive Entertainment, aims to break away from the typical Ubisoft style. Creative director Julian Gerighty emphasizes that Star Wars Outlaws won’t follow the usual Ubisoft formula.
Gerighty shared insights into why this game will stand out. “We are hyper conscious of the Ubisoft house style,” he said. Massive Entertainment has always been unique. Previously an independent studio and later an Activision studio, Massive has a different DNA from other Ubisoft studios. They are leveraging the rich Star Wars universe to introduce unique mechanics, diverging from Ubisoft’s traditional open-world approach.
Star Wars Outlaws promises an expansive, immersive experience across five different planets in the Outer Rim. Unlike other Ubisoft titles, these planets won’t take long to traverse, but they’ll be filled with distractions and opportunities for adventure. The open-world structure aims to offer more than just a vast map, focusing instead on a dynamic and engaging player experience.
Despite concerns about Star Wars Outlaws potentially following familiar paths, Gerighty reassures fans that this game is not just a Star Wars skin on a typical Ubisoft game. Unique features like a GTA-style wanted system and the absence of a skill tree hint at a fresh gameplay experience.
With the game set to launch soon, hopes are high for Star Wars Outlaws to deliver an exceptional open-world adventure in a galaxy far, far away.
