Playground Games, the developer behind the popular Forza Horizon series and the upcoming Fable reboot, has expanded by opening a third studio. This new studio will focus on the development of Fable, while the original HQ continues to support the Forza Horizon community.
According to Playground Games’ LinkedIn page, the third studio is also based in Leamington Spa, like the previous two. The company states, “Today, Playground has three world-class studios in Leamington Spa. In our original HQ, we continue to support and grow the huge, vibrant Horizon community. In our new studios on the other side of town, we are excited to be developing Fable, a new beginning for the legendary franchise.”
Playground Games first opened in 2010, creating the critically acclaimed Forza Horizon series. They expanded with a second studio in 2017 and were acquired by Microsoft in 2018. The latest game, Forza Horizon 5, surpassed 40 million players earlier this year.
The team now shifts focus to Fable, set for release in 2025 on Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC. The new installment promises a fresh start for the beloved RPG series, with support from Eidos Montreal.
