In a surprising turn of events, Sony accidentally revealed an unannounced weapon for Helldivers 2. This leak occurred through an official marketing email meant for Helldivers players. The email highlighted the Airburst Rocket Launcher, unlocked after players liberated Penta during Operation Legitimate Undertaking.
However, the image accompanying the email depicted a rocket launcher never seen before in the game. This sparked immediate speculation among fans. The weapon shown does not resemble the Airburst Rocket Launcher or any other existing weapon in the game, leading to theories that it might be a sneak peek of future content or an unintentional mistake by Sony.
This incident follows a series of errors from Sony. Earlier this year, Sony announced that Helldivers 2 players on Steam would need to link their PlayStation Network (PSN) accounts to continue playing. This decision led to widespread negative reviews and the game’s removal from sale in 177 countries where PSN is unavailable. Sony eventually reversed this decision due to the backlash.
Fans are now eagerly waiting to see if this newly leaked weapon will make an official appearance in the game.
