Sony has exciting news for PlayStation VR2 owners. Starting August 7, players can use their PlayStation VR2 headsets on PC. This expansion allows access to thousands of VR games on Steam, including popular titles like Half-Life: Alyx, Fallout 4 VR, and War Thunder.
To get started, players need to purchase the PlayStation VR2 PC adapter, priced at $59.99, €59.99, or £49.99. Additionally, they will need a DisplayPort 1.4 compatible cable, a Steam account, and a PC meeting specific minimum requirements. These requirements include Windows 10 or 11, an Intel Core i5-7600 or AMD Ryzen 3 3100 processor, 8GB RAM, and a compatible graphics card such as NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 or later.
Setting up is straightforward. Connect the PlayStation VR2 to the PC using the adapter and DisplayPort cable. Then, download the PlayStation VR2 App and the SteamVR App from Steam. This setup allows players to customize settings and start playing SteamVR games.
While some features like HDR, eye tracking, and adaptive triggers are exclusive to PS5, other features like 4K visuals, finger touch detection, and 3D Audio are supported on PC. Sony encourages players to explore the vast SteamVR library for an expanded VR experience.
