Ubisoft has officially renamed the anticipated open-world game set in Japan from Assassin’s Creed Red to Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The game, which promises a dive into the rich backdrop of feudal Japan, will have its cinematic world premiere trailer revealed on May 15. Fans can catch the trailer at 9 AM PT on Ubisoft’s YouTube channel.
The new title, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, aligns more closely with the game’s stealth and ninja themes. Ubisoft announced the change with a teaser on social media, featuring iconic Japanese imagery and an intriguing “hourglass puzzle” challenge for fans. Successful solvers of the puzzle are hinted to receive rewards.
The unveiling on May 15 is part of Ubisoft’s larger showcase plans, which include the Summer Game Fest in June and the Ubisoft Forward event on June 10. Although the trailer might be cinematic in nature, it sets the stage for more detailed reveals expected in the upcoming events.
This title is part of Ubisoft’s future vision for the Assassin’s Creed franchise, which has been known for combining rich historical settings with deep open-world RPG mechanics. Fans are eager to see how Assassin’s Creed Shadows will continue this tradition, particularly with its exciting Japanese setting.
