With DualSense Edge, Sony’s answer to a PlayStation 5 pro controller, set to release later this week, GuliKit confirmed their Hall Sensing joysticks will be made for the controller.
The tweet confirms they prioritized a DualSense Edge replacement due to the modular design. This makes a lot of sense, as the original DualSense uses a design that makes such replacements difficult for the end user.
For those unfamiliar with Hall Sensing joysticks, they basically use magnets to determine positioning over physically touching the connection, which, in theory, should eliminate drift.
Given the DualSense Edge effortlessly allows players to swap thumbsticks, this has the potential to completely eliminate the need with a single replacement. With their Switch replacement costing $30, and the official Sony replacements being $20, this has the potential to be a real price saving solution when they release sometime in the future.
