Amazon announced a TV series based off the extremely popular God of War franchise is currently in development.
While the initial announcement alluded to some details about the series, Variety added some insight into players can expect from it.
According to their article, the series will follow the 2018 version, where Kratos meets with his son, Atreus, to spread ashes of his late wife, Faye, from the highest peak. While this confirms the adventure will focus on his journey through Norse mythology, it doesn’t rule out seeing some of the events of the original 2005 arc, where Kratos battles Greek gods.

Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, known for their work on Iron Man, Children of Men, and The Expanse, will work as writers and executive producers for the project. Santa Monica Studio’s Creative Director, Cory Barlog, will also act an as executive producer, along with several other people associated with PlayStation Productions, and Santa Monica Studios.
Head of Global Television at Amazon Studios, Vernon Sanders, added the following:
God of War is a compelling, character-driven franchise that we believe will captivate our global customers as much with its expansive and immersive worlds as its rich storytelling.
